Today’s ride was the highlight of our trip—especially because I was the one who planned it.
We cycled from Arrowtown to Gibbston Valley, covering a small section of New Zealand’s Great Rides. Gibbston Valley is well known for its wineries, so we stopped there for lunch and enjoyed it with a glass of local wine.

The scenery along the trail was absolutely stunning. It was autumn and the leaves had turned red and gold. Cycling alongside the river, we crossed several bridges, including suspension bridges, and even passed the Kawarau Bridge Bungy, where commercial bungy jumping was born.

I can honestly say this is one of the most scenic cycling trails I have ever ridden.
When I was looking for a cycling tour, I needed to choose one that would suit my aunt as well, since she was joining us. In the end, I found an easy route that offered E-bike and a shuttle bus. The ride was mostly flat and around 15kms in total. Furthermore, kiki tore her ACL in a skiing accident earlier this year. Before the trip, we setp up a simple indoor bike stand at home for her rehabilitation. That gave us more confident that she would be able to join with us.
There is nothing better than enjoy a great meal after some exercise. Lunch was excellent and the young waiter who served us was very friendly. We chose a slightly aged red wine for my dad, and also tried a younger one for comparison. We could definitely taste the difference. After lunch, we took the shuttle back to Queenstown and wandering around the town. It was simply a wonderful day.
